new couch @ 10:03 p.m.

Advice on couches was given by:harri3tspy :
I'm a huge fan of my IKEA Ektorp sofa. It was cheap (for a sofa, anyway), it's huge (it actually comes in at least two sizes -- we have the bigger one and it's more than long and deep enough for me to lie down on), extremely comfortable, and you can take off the slip covers and throw them in the washing machine -- a huge boon with toddlers and pets. We bought an extra slip cover so we could switch them out at will. I was a little skeptical about its durability when I first brought it home -- it's very lightweight for a piece of furniture that large. But we've had it for at least 4 years now. It sees a lot of wear and tear and it's still good looking and comfortable. Two thumbs up.

I must give madame harriet mad huge crazy props because not only was the Ektorp the one we had been looking at before she so sweetly offered her review, be damned if it wasn't the one we ended up buying last month, in deep brown leather (the dog disappears when she's on it). And that business about it being light? The delivery guy carried it up our 45 degree angle driveway by himself. Imagine my shock to peer out the door and see this guy with a sofa with the ends squared off with cardboard and wrapped in plastic perched on one shoulder and carrying a clipboard in the other like it weren't no thang.

We have been gleeful with new couch. "D00d! Did you know that someone left an awesome couch in the living room?" "Sweet!"

We're sad. I know.
