This is one of my favorite songs on the planet. Ned Rorem, a Pulitzer Prize-winning composer is a staunch atheist, yet wrote some of the most challenging and majestic song cycles set to the Psalms of David. When asked how he as an avowed atheist could manage such a thing, he simply replied "I have faith in the faith of others." That's how I feel about this.
